Exterior Design
The 2027 Kia K5 brings a striking fastback silhouette to the streets of Scottsdale, AZ, blend of sweeping lines and sharp accents. At the front, the signature "tiger nose" grille integrates seamlessly with narrow, angled LED headlights and distinctive zigzag daytime running lights. Solar control glass comes standard on the body, helping filter harsh Sonoran Desert sunlight to maintain vehicle heat management. Smooth side paneling flows into standard 16-inch alloy wheels, with available 18-inch and 19-inch gloss black machine-finished wheels adding a grounded stance. Power-adjustable heated side mirrors include integrated LED turn indicators, while full-width rear LED taillights finish the tail profile.
Interior Comfort & Technology
Inside the cabin, the layout emphasizes driver-focused ergonomics and high-tech convenience. A dual-zone automatic climate control system allows occupants to set individual temperature zones, ideal for cooling down after summer drives across the valley. Standard models feature supportive cloth seating, while available synthetic leather options offer heated and ventilated front seating along with a 10-way power driver’s seat.
At the centerpiece of the dashboard sits a 12.3-inch touchscreen display supporting wireless Apple CarPlay® and Android Auto™ integration. A digital instrument panel provides essential drive information at a glance, complemented by a multi-device Bluetooth® setup and four USB-C charge ports distributed across both rows. Cargo flexibility is supported by 60/40 split-folding rear seatbacks and a smart proximity trunk access system. An available Bose® premium audio system delivers balanced acoustics throughout the cabin.
Performance & Handling
Powering the standard trim levels is a 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 186 horsepower and 178 lb-ft of torque. This engine pairs with an 8-speed automatic transmission, offering sequential shift controls and selectable drive modes to tailor throttle response for highway cruising or city stop-and-go conditions. For added output, an available turbocharged 2.5-liter engine pairs with an 8-speed dual-clutch transmission to deliver sportier acceleration.
Front-wheel drive is standard, providing predictable traction on dry pavement, while available torque-vectoring all-wheel drive distributes power to the rear wheels when increased road grip is needed. Underneath, the suspension features independent front MacPherson struts and a multi-link rear setup, tuned to absorb road imperfections while keeping body roll minimal around bends.
Safety Features & Driver Assistance
A comprehensive array of advanced driver assistance systems provides dynamic monitor coverage around the sedan. Standard technologies include:
- Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist: Scans for vehicles, pedestrians, cyclists, and oncoming traffic during junction turns, applying automatic braking if needed.
- Blind-Spot & Rear Cross-Traffic Collision-Avoidance: Monitors lane changes and alerts driver to approaching vehicles when reversing out of parking spots.
- Lane Keeping & Following Technology: Assists with minor steering inputs to keep the vehicle centered within visible lane markings.
- Smart Cruise Control with Stop & Go: Adjusts cruising speeds automatically to maintain a set distance from preceding traffic.
- Driver Attention Warning & Rear Occupant Alert: Alerts drivers showing signs of fatigue and reminds occupants to check the rear seat before exiting.
