Huge battery issue kept this car from being great
By Lanzer on Sunday, November 15, 2020
Not having to pay for gas is awesome, and for my daily drive to work that's less than 20 miles away, this car does the job spectacularly. Unfortunately, all Nissan Leaf do not have liquid battery cooling. Coupled with the fact that the batteries degrade very quickly makes the Leaf's range drop to about 50 miles after 7 years of ownership. During the 7 years there were no need for oil change, tune up, engine issues, and I didn't even need to switch brake pads thanks to regen braking. If not for the battery issue, this car would had been stellar. - 5.0
The Nissan Leaf - a standout 100% electric vehicle
By Rockiesadventurer on Monday, June 24, 2019
The Nissan Leaf is the top selling 100% electric vehicle in the world for good reason. Here's why I love the Leaf: 1. It is silent, smooth and extremely fast 2. It is insanely cheap to operate (i've run my 2015 68k miles) saving me $~7k+ in fuels costs vs my 22mpg suv. It's paid for itself and I run on sunshine (solar on my roof). 3. I live in a very snowy high altitude mountainous region - snow tires, traction control, a low center of gravity have proven this to be capable 4. heated seats/steering wheel are luxurious Downsides: 1. Range is limited - EV's don't operate like gas cars - its NOT fill and forget...it's like your cell phone...keep it topped off and range fades as a concern - plus there are literally 100's+ of fast chargers being built across the U.S. which will address longer trips - 5.0
Most trouble-free vehicle I have ever owned.
By Sparky on Tuesday, June 02, 2020
Excellent reliability, lowest maintenance cost possible, car has never had a problem except in 8 years had to replace the 12 volt battery. Only other maintenance was rotating tires and that was covered under warranty. Truly a fun car to drive. Can beat almost anything away from a stop light. Perfect for all the around-town driving and saving our other vehicle from lots of stop and go, short trips which are hard on an internal-combustion engine.
